SEMS cheerleaders make it four consecutive crowns

The South Effingham Middle School competition cheerleaders won the region championship for the fourth straight year.

The competition cheer region championship was held Nov. 6 at Ebenezer Middle School. The SEMS cheer team won with a score of 249, beating second place by 38 points. Seven top local teams competed in this event. The SEMS cheerleaders remained undefeated this season.

The girls were coached this season by Kristina Grubbs and Lisa Grassi. Assistant coaches were Rachel Jones and Emma Wheeler.

Co-captains Alaina Ricker and Emily Eddy, two eighth-graders, were part of the last three region championships.
