Kroger and Dorothy Sherrod will be sponsoring a Red Cross blood drive in honor of Talmadge Jenkins on Sept. 24 from 1-6 p.m.
Jenkins was diagnosed with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia last October. He has recently needed two units of blood weekly.
Nell Jenkins, his wife, said, “There is a blood shortage at the present time. We do not know what the future holds, but we do know that without a blood supply many will suffer, some will die.”
She continues by saying that donating blood is safe and takes only an hour of your time. Most people are eligible to give if you are at least 17 years old and weigh 110 pounds.
For more information about this blood drive call the Kroger store in Rincon at 826-7660. Ask for Dorothy Sherrod.
