On April 29 the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Association will hold its anniversary celebration for a facility that doubles as its education building and a community center.
For 26 years the educational center has been available to members in the association and to residents for activities such as weddings, funerals and voting.
“It’s open to the public,” said Lucy Powell, longtime Macedonia Baptist Church member.
The association is comprised of five districts representing more than 60 churches in Bulloch, Screven, Effingham, Chatham and Jenkins counties.
To celebrate the building’s opening, the association will hold a weeklong celebration with church services beginning at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday starting April 23. The culmination of the anniversary will be the Sunday services on April 29.
Rev. Clarence Morgan will be the guest speaker at the Sunday service. He is the pastor of Good Shepherd Church in Augusta and the president of the General Missionary Baptist Convention.
Starting with Sunday school the daylong celebration will continue with a mass meeting and church service. A dinner will close out the event.
Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information call Wilbert Maynor at 531-2440.
