The Effingham County Recreation and Parks Department will present the children’s play "A Dragon in the Mix” by Sue Ann Gunn on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at their gymnasium. Admission is free.
A reception will be held after the show to congratulate the cast and crew.
The production is the culmination of a two-week drama camp attended by more than 30 children from the community.
Under the direction of drama coach Tamara Tyre and art designer Donna Hellman, the students have been learning techniques and practices used in all aspects of theater performance and production.
“A Dragon in the Mix” is a comedy in one act about four fairies who are “cooking up” a fairy tale involving three princesses who want to have careers, a queen who worries too much, and a very different dragon.

The drama camp and play are a partnership with Mars on Main, a community effort to restore the Mars Theater in Springfield.
