Empty Stocking needs filling
Placeholder Image

Big Sister has accepted the responsibility of caring for her two younger siblings, aged 13 and 15. Big Sister is only 21 years old herself and she has a young child, aged 18 months. Her husband was killed about a year ago in an accident.

Big sister works but at a minimum wage job. She receives some public benefits to help care for her young brother and sister. Their parents were involved in some illegal activities and are now serving time in prison.

These children, including Big Sister, have been visited with enough tragedy that could turn them away from anything that requires belief that things can be better.

All of them are in their small community church every Sunday and Big Sister says “we will do everything we can and depend on the Lord to help us find a way to continue taking care of each other.”

This little family needs your help at Christmas. Will you give to the Empty Stocking Fund to help Big Sister add a small touch of the Christmas spirit for her and her charges on Christmas Day?

The elderly need the Empty Stocking. too.

She is known in the community for her long life, now in her eighties, and for her everyday pleasant attitude. She is also known to live on the edge. Her small Social Security check is stretched to the limit on good months and in the bad ones, it’s just bad.

She is thankful for her long life and that she has no serious health problems. But the cost of living and paying the electric bill continues to rise while the Social Security check stays the same.

She really thinks that she is fine and doesn’t really need anything for Christmas. Can you imagine what a little help from the Empty Stocking would do for her?

Will you help see that she can smile on Christmas day because folks cared enough to help her and other in need in the community?

Contributions may be left at any HeritageBank of the South or mailed to Empty Stocking Fund, P .O. Box 379, Springfield, Ga. 31329.
