The YMCA of Coastal Georgia is hosting the Y’s annual Healthy Kids Day® on Saturday, May 6. The Effingham County YMCA, 1226 Patriot Dr., Rincon, is one of the area participating locations.
The event encourages families to help kids be kids and set them up for a summer of success. This day-long event will feature games, healthy cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts, competitions, food trucks, vendors and much more to motivate and teach families how to develop and maintain healthy routines at home. Y locations with outdoor pools and splash pads will also be opening them for the summer on Healthy Kids Day.
“At the Y, we believe in the potential of all children and each day we work to help kids find that potential within themselves,” said Joel Smoker, CEO. “Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free community-wide event to kick off summer and remind us all how important it is for kids to stay active physically and mentally throughout the summer.”
The YMCA of Coastal Georgia has ten branch locations, all of which will be celebrating Healthy Kids Day, including the Effingham YMCA in Rincon, the Golden Isles YMCA in Brunswick, the Habersham YMCA in midtown Savannah, the Islands Family YMCA on Whitemarsh Island, the Liberty County/Armed Services YMCA in Hinesville, the McIntosh County YMCA in Darien, the Richmond Hill YMCA, the Statesboro YMCA, the Tybee Island YMCA and Recreation Center, and the West Chatham YMCA in Pooler.
