SPRINGFIELD -- Effingham Health System recently recognized the generosity of Ameris Bank, which donated $150,000 through Georgia HEART’s Hospital Partnership in 2020 and 2021.
The donation brings to $175,000 the total amount that Ameris Bank has contributed over the past three
years to Effingham Health System. Regional and local market leaders from Ameris Bank presented the
check in a ceremony at the hospital on Thursday.
“We’re committed to expanding the continuum of care and providing safe, affordable access to care —
closer to home,” Effingham Health System President and CEO Dr. Fran Witt said. “But it takes a village
to sustain a growing healthcare organization. Thank you, Ameris Bank, for your leadership by supporting
healthcare in our community.”
Since 2018, Ameris Bank has donated more than $4 million to Georgia Rural Hospitals.
“The financial contributions through the Georgia HEART program further the hospitals’ abilities to
provide quality health care for the thousands of Georgians who call these communities home,” said
Jamie DeLoach, vice president and business banker with Ameris Bank in Rincon. “We are honored to be able to provide these much-needed funds to rural Georgia hospitals, and especially proud
to be able to support the Effingham Hospital in their mission to making quality healthcare possible for
our community and our neighbors.”
Georgia HEART helps rural and critical access hospitals administer the Georgia Rural Hospital Income Tax
Credit. The Tax Credit encourages individuals and businesses to support rural hospitals with a 100 percent
State Income Tax Credit. Many donors receive a federal deduction as well.
Ameris Bank representatives joining DeLoach for the presentation were Greg Marini, Savannah
market president; Tara Moye, regional treasury sales officer; Jeannie Lane, Rincon branch manager;
and Tori Rhett-Johnson, Rincon assistant branch manager.
