The Effingham County branch of the NAACP will hold its annual Freedom Fund and Honors Banquet on Sept. 10 at the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Association Social Hall. The event will begin at 6 p.m.

This year’s honorees are: Beverly Scott, career social services coordinator and volunteer with Effingham County Parent University; Michael Garvin, community activist and former Guyton mayor; and Roy Griffin Jr., activist for youth, especially with HYPE Youth Ministries.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for those 17 and under. A table for 10 is available for $300.
