Cadet Staff Sgt. (C/SSgt) Christopher Poole was recently awarded the cadet of the year award for Effingham Cadet Squadron, Civil Air Patrol. Poole also was selected for cadet of the month for January.

The Cadet of the Month, Cadet of the Quarter, and Cadet of the Year Awards are based upon performance in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program as well as other factors like academic performance students’ grades are considered in the formula as well as advancing their grade within the CAP program. Poole is joined by his sister, C/SSgt Debra Poole, and Cadet Senior Airman (C/SrA) Mariece Jones in recently receiving Cadet of the Month Awards. Jones was recently promoted to cadet senior airman. Other promotions included Grant Killion, who was promoted to cadet technical sergeant.
