The city of Rincon is gearing up for its annual Freedom Rings event Friday night at Freedom Park, complete with fireworks and a laser show.
City planner Lameisha Kelly said the city has lined up 45 vendors to be onsite, and another five are on a waiting list.
“We’re trying to maximize the space on the site for visitors,” she said.
The city also is bringing in additional portable bathrooms for the event, which begins at 6 p.m. and ends around 10 p.m.
The band Liquid Ginger also will perform for the crowd.
Kelly said the city staff has met to discuss traffic getting out of the park, which is behind Rincon Chevrolet and adjacent to Lowe’s. A local Boy Scout troop will be helping directing vehicles into and out of the parking area.
“We’ve put a lot of thought into it, so we don’t get bogged down like we did last year,” Kelly said.
