Riverkeeper county set cleanup date for this Saturday

Effingham County representatives will team up with environmental nonprofit group Savannah Riverkeeper on Saturday from 9 a.m.-12 noon for Effingham’s cleanup in the MS4 urbanized area.

All members of the public are invited to join. The county, group and volunteers will meet near the intersection of Scuffletown Road and Lakewood Drive. Trash bags, gloves and bottled water will be provided. 

Volunteers will divide into teams as necessary to pick up trash along the ditches and outfalls of Scuffletown Road, Lakewood Drive, Lakewood Circle, Jaguar Drive, Triumph Drive, Robin Road, Kelly Drive and Hodgeville Road as time permits.

Savannah Riverkeeper also is teaming with Savannah Canoe and Kayak for the SRK Summer Paddle Series, which begins Thursday with a paddle at 6 p.m. on Ebenezer Creek. Canoes, kayaks and standup paddleboards are welcome. Outings are $25 for those with their own canoe, kayak or paddleboard,and $45 if a rental is needed. Savannah Riverkeeper members get $5 off. Boats and paddle spots are limited. Passes for the full series are available, at $225 per person with their own craft or $350 with rentals at each outing.
