Effingham County man arrested after lengthy drug investigation

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Drug Suppression Unit arrested a man after seizing thousands of dollars in drugs and a firearm after a lengthy investigation.

The ECSO Drug Suppression Unit arrested Jeffrey Taylor, 37, of Effingham County, Nov. 25 after a lengthy drug investigation that spanned several counties. The arrest was with assistance from the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office Drug Suppression Unit. “During the arrest, Taylor brandished a gun at investigators, but the situation was quickly deescalated to avoid the exchange of gunfire,” said Captain Rick Dailey.

The ECSO Drug Suppression Unit seized 711 grams (1.5 lbs.) of Fentanyl, 100 grams (3.5 oz.) of powder cocaine, six grams of crack cocaine, two grams of methamphetamine, and a firearm.

The estimated street value of the drugs and gun seized is more than $100,000.

Taylor was arrested and faces charges of trafficking cocaine, trafficking Fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and aggravated assault on law enforcement.
