A wanted fugitive is now in custody in Effingham County after fighting sheriff’s deputies late Tuesday night.
Michael Justin Grovenstein, 27, of Reidsville, was apprehended after deputies received a tip on his whereabouts. Grovenstein had active warrants out of Tattnall County for burglary, interference with government property, theft by taking and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He also had active warrants out of Effingham County for probation violation.
When Effingham deputies located Grovenstein, he fought deputies violently. Deputies tased Grovensten and eventually were able to get him in custody after a struggle. While placed in the back of a patrol car, Grovenstein kicked out a window.
Grovenstein now faces charges in Effingham County for felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer and interference with government property.
He remains in the Effingham County Jail without bond.
