SPRINGFIELD -- Today, all the facilities of the Effingham County School District are being treated by the Ecovasive Virus and Infection Control Application team to ensure they are properly disinfected for the start of the new school year.
Ecovasive is using a combination of electrostatic sprayers and the bacteriostatic called PreventX 24/7 to treat all surface areas against viruses, bacteria, germs, mold and mildew, including COVID-19.
Classes are slated to begin as scheduled Wednesday. The K-12 school district includes approximately 13,000 students and 1,750 staff members
. Dr. Yancy Ford, superintendent of the district, said, “To say the least, we are excited to start our new year. With doing so, we know it is absolutely imperative we do all we can to ensure our facilities are as clean and protected against viruses and bacteria as possible. Using Ecovasive allows us to provide anti-microbial protection on the touch surfaces in all our buildings for an extended period of time.”
Electrostatic application for surface disinfection is a method of applying disinfectants to a target surface area by utilizing electrostatic force of attraction. Simply put, the electrostatic system places an electrical charge on the droplets and disperses them across a target surface area, providing a comprehensive, even coverage. This provides a consistent and uniform application in which the droplets wrap around the target area.
A bevy of research has shown that microorganisms can survive on surfaces in school for days, weeksand even months, and can be hidden from traditional spray and wipe methods. Using electrostatic technology provides effective, proven and safe surface coverage and eliminates cross contamination of dangerous pathogens.
Much like a balloon with static electricity, the charge “sticks” the tinted particles to the object and disperses it evenly. The active ingredient in PreventX 24/7 forms a colorless, odorless, positively charged polymer that molecularly bonds to the treated surface.
In essence, it is a layer of electrically charged swords. When a microorganism encounters the treated surface, the C-18 molecular sword punctures the cell membrane and the electrical charge shocks the cell. Since nothing is transferred to the now dead cell, the antimicrobial does not lose strength and the sword is ready for the next cell to contact it.
Research shows surfaces are protected for up to 90 days.
About Ecovasive: Founded in 2016, Ecovasive is a Georgia-based company that puts the power of total disinfection to work for schools, businesses, homes and churches. An Ecovasive virus and infection control treatment destroys pathogens every second of every day. It is completely safe and is the most effective antimicrobial protocol on the market today to control and kill pathogens such as Influenza, COVID-19, Norovirus, Strep, Staph, MRSA, E Coli and even TB.
