Patrons at a golf course (the gallery) usually have to be quiet while players tee off, drive on the fairway, or try to make a 3-foot putt.
But, on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 2-4 p.m. even people who don’t golf are invited to bring a blanket or a lawn chair, and maybe a picnic lunch to the City Club at Lost Plantation golf course in Rincon, and plop down to hear some live orchestral music.
Food and beverages will also be available in to-go boxes from the onsite Greenside Bar and Grille. The concert is free, but donations to the Effingham County Orchestra are always appreciated.
“We are having Picnic on the Fairway where we will play a variety of pieces including a couple of patriotic tunes since it is Veteran’s Day weekend, and a couple of movie themes as well,” said Virginia Patterson, executive director of the Effingham County Orchestra.
During the Oct. 28 City Council meeting, Tara Childress, manager of the golf course, updated the council about the event.
“The orchestra will be on the cart path and everyone can sit on the fairway,” Childress said. “(Greenside Bar and Grille) is going to do charcuterie boards. They’re very excited. You just pick it up and go.”
The City Club at Lost Plantation is located at 1 Clubhouse Dr., (off Fort Howard Road) in Rincon.
