Effingham County Farm Bureau announces winners of high school art contest

Springfield – Sofia Piraino, a junior at South Effingham High School, is the winner of the Effingham County Farm Bureau High School Art Contest. Piraino won a $40 Wal-Mart.

The ECFB High School Art Contest was open to all high school students in Effingham County.

Participants were asked to draw a picture that depicts some aspect of Georgia agriculture. Students were allowed to use a variety of media to create their artwork including graphite, charcoal, pastel, chalk, colored pencil, pen-and-ink, ballpoint pen or mixed media appropriate for printing to create their artwork. As the county winner, Piraino’s artwork advanced to the Georgia Farm Bureau District 7 High School Art Contest.

Carlee Smith was the second-place winner of the ECFB High School Art Contest, respectively. Smith is a sophomore at Effingham County High School and received a $20 gift card from Wal-Mart.

“On behalf of Effingham County Farm Bureau, I would like to thank each student and teacher who participated in our high school art contest,” said Effingham County Farm Bureau President Stuart Exley.
