Nearly 200 people attended the Effingham Employment Expo Tuesday, June 18 at Rincon Elementary. The event was hosted by Worksource Coastal and the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority with the them “Live Here. Work Here,” emphasizing the goal for Effingham residents to seek and secure jobs within the county. The event was supported locally by the Effingham County School District, the Regional Industry Support Enterprise (RISE), and the Technical College System of Georgia.

According to the IDA, 12 area employers were actively seeking employees for their 100 open positions.

The IDA reports that 131 attendees (66%) completed surveys showing 44.3% (58) of survey respondents were unemployed, and 55.73% were employed. A majority of attendees --75.5% (99) were Effingham County residents; and eight were from Chatham, four from Screven, two from Bulloch, and two from Bryan counties.
