A winter commencement ceremony was held Thursday, Jan. 9 at enCompass Academy for three graduates.

Thomas Matthew Chester and Peyton Zeke Clark graduated from Effingham County High School; and Trinity Ann Serota graduated from South Effingham High School.

In her introduction of the three students, enCompass Coordinator Stacy Boyett listed some of the unique traits of each graduate along with obstacles they met and overcame to complete their graduation requirements.

“Peyton is a true friend and greets everyone with a smile,” Boyett said. “He works in the food industry – specifically Subway – and his two favorite people in the world are his little sister and his grandmother.

“Thomas never gave up and earned two certifications from Savannah Tech – including welding – turning talent into achievement,” Boyett continued. “He’s hard working and loves connecting with others.

“Trinity faced many challenges, but overcame them with the power of kindness and love,” Boyett said. “She has a genuine love for people and has learned many skills working at Manna House. She spreads happiness wherever she goes.”

Effingham County Schools Superintendent Dr. Yancy Ford added that each of these students have “people success.”

“No matter what you do (in life), if you do it with passion, you’ll never work a day in your life,” Dr. Ford said, paraphrasing a quote that has been attributed to people such as Mark Twain and Confucius.

“When students believe in themselves, that’s success,” Dr. Ford added.
