Girl Scouts visit FCS Equestrian Center
Junior Girl Scouts troop 30387

Special to the Herald

On Sunday, April 14, the Juniors of Effingham County Girl Scout Troop 30387 spent the day learning about equestrianism at the FCS Equestrian Center in Rincon.

Justyne Albright, owner and trainer at FCS, led the girls through preparing a horse to work with, how to work with the animal, and then how to properly care for both the horse and gear after the work is done. Albright went the extra mile and demonstrated some of the veterinary care that goes along with equestrian ownership.

Albright answered every question, demonstrated every technique, and responded to each girl in the group in ways that accounted for each girl’s strengths and weaknesses. The girls came away with a wealth of knowledge and an experience they will not soon forget! They are all looking forward to returning soon. The outing helped the girls complete all the requirements for the Junior Horseback Riding merit badge.

In Girl Scouts, girls in grades K-12 bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world, knowing the next opportunity to stand up, speak up and take the lead is never far away. The possibilities for greatness are truly endless.
