Guyton Community Picnic set for Saturday rain or shine

The public is invited to come to the Guyton Community Picnic Saturday, July 20, from noon to 5 p.m. The picnic and activities will be held at the Guyton gym, 505 Magnolia Street. Activities will be inside and around the gym outside, weather permitting. The entire event is free.

The Guyton Leisure Services Committee has planned a full day of activities and events for people of all ages from kids to adults.

For the kids there will be outdoor inflatables, face painting, a cake walk, a book giveaway, and school supplies.

For adults there will be line dancing and a Zumba session.

For everyone there will be food, soft drinks donated by Coca-Cola, a hayride (weather permitting), health screenings, karaoke with Motown hits, bingo, and drawings for prizes.

The Girl Scouts will have a table with information and an opportunity to sign up for girls in grades kindergarten through 12. According to organizer Lula Seabrooks of the Guyton Leisure Services Committee, sponsors and participating organizations include Ken’s IGA, Lowe’s, Widow Son Lodge 396 of Guyton; and a number of churches including Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, New Hope AME Church, Royal Temple Holiness Church, and First Union Baptist Church.
