Guyton -- The YMCA of Coastal Georgia announces the grand opening of its first-ever Guyton location at 718 Central Blvd. The event, open to the public, will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m., followed by a day of family-friendly fun.

Food and drinks will be provided by The Rusty Pig in Rincon and Southern Kafé in Guyton. Entertainment for kids includes Flippin Out Inflatables of Guyton, face painting, caricature drawing, and more.

Attendees can also explore a selection of Y swag and merchandise and enter to win a brand new 28” Blackstone Griddle in a raffle. (Entries accepted only on-site). Additionally, as a special offer, anyone joining the YMCA association-wide on the day of the grand opening will have the joiner’s fee waived.

“We are excited to bring the YMCA’s longstanding tradition of community service to Guyton," said Shelly Fickau, Regional Executive Branch Director. "Our new facility will provide a comprehensive range of programs and services to meet the diverse needs of the community. We look forward to becoming a vital part of the Guyton community.”

“We’ve had great success renovating other YMCA facilities in the area,” says Brian Felder, owner and principal architect at Felder & Associates. “We used that expertise to create a functional and inviting space in Guyton with plenty of opportunity for growth. We’re pleased the YMCA leadership is happy with the results, and we think the community will be too."

Tours of the new facility will be offered at the event, showcasing the state-of-the-art health and wellness center, open and welcoming reception area, expansive gymnasium and exercise floor with eGym equipment, group exercise studios, bright and cheerful child-watch space, locker rooms, dedicated space for teen activities, and flexible classroom space for a variety of programs.

“The opening of the Guyton Family YMCA marks our dedication to expanding services and support to the Guyton community. We welcome everyone to explore the diverse programs and amenities we offer," said YMCA of Coastal Georgia CEO Joel Smoker.

The Guyton YMCA is the second such facility in Effingham County, joining the YMCA in Rincon.
