GUYTON - Blue Sky Acres, a nonprofit that serves people with disabilities and children in foster care through Equine-Assisted Activities and supported employment, will hold its second annual charity golf tournament fundraiser at the Club at Savannah Harbor on Friday, May 12th 2023. This tournament is presented by ACC Construction Company and Georgia Ports Authority, under the direction of representatives, Steve Taylor and Chris Driggers.

Blue Sky Acres’ Executive Director Hallie Myers says, “Local companies have been extremely supportive of this tournament which had 33 teams participate last year and this year we are hoping for a full course of 36 teams.” Rincon Chevrolet is sponsoring a 2023 Chevy Silverado for the hole in one prize along with three other prizes. Chick Fila in Rincon will be donating chicken sandwiches for the lunches along with putting in a team of their own. Roys Nutz and Buttz will provide a BBQ dinner following the event. Other featured sponsors include The McGraley Company, Jack and Pat Shuman, Coca Cola, Edwards Interiors, RBL Supply Chain Consulting, Metalcrafts, Seaboard, Vos Electric, Thomas C. Strickland and Sons, Josh Futch, Boaen Mechanical, Coca Cola, The Greenery and Sisson Scale.

The proceeds from this day will go towards Blue Sky Acres’ supported employment to fund a workshop for supported employees to continue gaining job skills through woodworking and begin the equine activities programs there. Blue Sky Acres began in February 2021 on borrowed property and recently purchased 43 acres of land in Springfield in order to expand their programs. Myers says, “We are very excited about this tournament which will open the doors to be able to serve even more people in our community as we seek to change lives, one person at a time.”

Blue Sky Acres is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides Equine-assisted activities for individuals with disabilities, supported employment for young adults with disabilities and mentoring for foster children.
