Special to the Herald
Ivory Brown, a teacher of exceptional students at Ebenezer Middle School, continues to make an impact in and out of the classroom. Brown is deeply committed to advocating for her students and the school community.
She is currently championing a cause close to her heart -- fundraising for Best Buddies of Georgia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Brown’s fundraising efforts for Best Buddies are part of her journey to being named Champion of the Year in the organization’s statewide campaign. Best Buddies creates invaluable opportunities for individuals with IDD, fostering friendships, employment, leadership development, and a greater sense of inclusion within schools and communities. Brown’s work with the organization has benefited her students and the Effingham County community.
Brown’s involvement with Best Buddies goes beyond fundraising. Her passion for inclusion, dedication to her students, and advocacy for those with special needs are at the heart of her efforts. Her classroom at Ebenezer Middle School exemplifies the spirit of Best Buddies, where friendship and understanding are cornerstones of learning.
“I am dedicated to making a positive impact in our community. The work of Best Buddies has helped foster a deep sense of belonging and empowerment within the students of our school district,” says Brown. “This campaign is a wonderful opportunity to ensure that all students, regardless of their abilities, have access to meaningful social opportunities and friendships. The funds we collect will directly support local students and others throughout Georgia, helping to create a more inclusive environment in our schools. I invite you to join me in this important cause. Your contributions can help change lives and make a significant difference for students who need our support the most.”
