Highlights from the 2024 Season
Rebel Regiment
Under the leadership of director Will Alford, the Rebel Regiment achieved accolades despite the challenges posed by two hurricanes. “The kids worked incredibly hard and came roaring back to finish the season strong,” said Alford.
Their accomplishments in the competition circuit were marked by standout performances in multiple categories.
The Rebel Regiment competed in the Coastal Empire Classic, the Marching Mustang Invitational, and the Deep South Marching Competition.
At the Deep South Marching Competition, the Rebel Regiment won: First Best in Color Guard, Percussion, Competition Color Guard, Competition Percussion and First Runner-Up out of 16 bands. The Rebel Regiment garnered Second Best in Drum Mahor, Class Band and Competition Drum Mahor.
The Rebel Regiment will now transition into their winter programs, including winter guard, pep band, jazz band, and percussion ensemble. “Our parents are incredible and do everything they can to make sure all our students are taken care of,” Alford added.
Marching Mustangs
Led by Director Sean McBride, the Marching Mustangs had a season highlighted by their students' growth, teamwork, and leadership. “Each portion of the band showed great growth in both performance and leadership. Our seniors were instrumental in building community, guiding younger members, and setting a strong example,” McBride said.
The Marching Mustangs competed at the Coastal Empire Classic, Statesboro/East Georgia Marching Championships, and the Deep South Classic
At the Deep South Marching Competition, the Marching Mustangs earned First Place in Class 3A in: Best Color Guard, Best Percussion, Best Band, and Best Overall; Second Place Best Drum Major, and Fourth Over Band out of 16 bands.
A highlight of the season was the Marching Mustangs’ Middle School Band Night, where they hosted 63 middle schoolers—more than double the previous years’ numbers. McBride attributed this success to the example set by the seniors, who demonstrated leadership and dedication that have inspired future band members.
