New city councils to be sworn in during first two weeks of January

Swearing-in ceremonies for new city councilmembers in Guyton and Rincon are scheduled for Jan. 2. Swearing-in ceremonies for the three re-elected incumbents in Springfield will take place on Jan. 9 before the city council meeting.

In Rincon, Councilmember Michelle Tayor, and Councilmembers-elect Mona Underwood and Brandy Riley will take their oaths of office on Jan. 2, 2024, at 6 p.m. in the council chambers, 107 W. 17th St., Rincon.

In Guyton, Mayor-elect Andy Harville, and councilmembers-elect Jeremiah Chancey and Theodore Hamby will be sworn in on Jan. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Guyton Gym, 505 Magnolia St., Guyton.

Springfield city councilmembers Justin Cribbs, Steve Shealy, and Gary Weitman will be sworn in for four-year terms beginning at 6 p.m., Jan. 9, at Springfield’s council chambers, 130 S. Laurel St., Springfield.
