Tharros Place to host ‘silent disco’ to raise awareness of silent crimes

Event is in Honor of National Crime Victims’ Awareness Week

Special to the Herald

Tharros Place, a local nonprofit, is hosting “Quiet Courage: A Silent Disco to Raise Awareness of Silent Crimes” to raise funds for underage survivors of human trafficking.

Attendees will dance to music broadcast via wireless headphones rather than a standard sound system. Silent discos are popular at music festivals and other events, as they allow dancing to continue even past noise curfews or in noise-sensitive areas.

The event includes a family-friendly mocktail event for teens and a cocktail party for those 21 and over. Sponsors include Georgia Power, the Office of the District Attorney of Chatham County, and Silent Events.

The “Silent Disco” will be held at Soho South, 12 W. Liberty St., Savannah, April 8.

Mocktails will be available from 5-6:30 p.m.; and cocktails for patrols age 21+ will be served from 7-8:30 p.m.

Tickets to the mocktail party are $20 and tickets to the cocktail party are $50. For more information, click on tharrosplace.com/events.html or contact Kate Templeton, Outreach Coordinator for Tharros Place, at kate@tharrosplace.com or (912) 665-0236.
