Democratic Committee to hold yard sale
The Effingham County Democratic Committee is hosting a yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 16, beginning at 8 a.m.
The yard sale is being held at Rutland Tire & Wheel, 420 S. Columbia Ave., Rincon.
Tables can be rented for $20, payable to the Effingham County Democratic Committee, and sellers keep the proceeds of their sales.
You can also donate your saleable items to the ECDC for a donation receipt.

Rincon looking for Planning Zone members
The City of Rincon is looking for a couple good men or women to serve on the Planning and Zoning Board.
Applications may be picked up at City Hall in the Planning and Zoning Department.
Applicants must reside within the Rincon city limits. City Council will review the applications and may choose to conduct an interview.
There are currently two vacancies on the Planning and Zoning Board. The Board meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 107 W. 17th Street.

Georgia Recreational Trails Program funding cycle opens
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GADNR) announces the opening of the pre-application period for the 2023 Recreational Trails grants and the 2023 Georgia Off-highway Vehicle Trails grants. The access links to the Pre-application portals are available now at https://gadnr.org/rtp.
Georgia Recreational Trails
Georgia Recreational Trails’ grants are administered by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. These grants are intended to improve outdoor access in Georgia by providing funding to develop or rehabilitate non-motorized trails in Georgia. Non-motorized uses may include hiking, walking, running, wheelchair access, biking, horseback riding, kayak/canoe access along water trails, or a combination of the above uses. These grants are for projects which are primarily recreational in nature, rather than serving a more utilitarian transportation function. Eligible applicants include qualified local governments, authorized commissions, and state and federal agencies.
Georgia Off-highway Vehicle Trails
Georgia Off-highway Vehicle Trails’ grants are administered by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. These grants are intended to support the development of off-highway (OHV) trails in Georgia. These motorized trails can be designated for the riding of dirt bikes, ATVs, UTVs, full-sized off-road vehicles, or a combination of the above uses. These grants are for projects which are primarily recreational in nature, rather than serving a more utilitarian transportation function. Eligible applicants include qualified local governments, authorized commissions, and state and federal agencies.
The pre-application period closes on Nov. 1.
