Rincon – Charles Keith Barnes, 84, passed away February 4, 2023 at his residence.
He was born in North Carolina on July 3, 1938, but moved to Pooler, GA in 1940 and to Rincon, GA in 1977. He served in the Air National Guard, then began his working career with Strickland Oil Company, then Great Dane Trailers, and went on to work at Savannah Electric and Power retiring as the Manager at Springfield Operations. He was a member of Willowpeg Golf Course where he enjoyed his time with friends, held weekly card games at the “Pond House”, was an avid outdoorsman, vegetable gardener, bird hunter, and fisherman. After retirement he worked as a hunting guide for Billy Exley and also for Kessler Enterprises. Above all he loved his wife, family, pets, and was always a prankster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William D. Barnes and Martha Elizabeth Cawthon Barnes; and sister, Yvonne Garfield.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jacqueline Hodges Barnes; daughters, Julie Ann Pratka (Paul) and Kimberly Joyce Barnes; granddaughter, Jennifer Hogg (Jeff); great-granddaughter, Jessica Hogg; and niece, Arlene Kicklighter (David).
Visitation will be 12 noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. in the chapel.
Interment will follow in Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
