GUYTON, GA – The 14th Marching Mustang Invitational (MMI) attracted more than 1,800 band students from 14 high schools across Georgia and South Carolina Oct. 19. South Effingham High School hosted the event at the Corral, drawing a capacity crowd.

High school marching bands delivered powerful performances, showcasing months of preparation and dedication. Following the competition, the Marching Mustangs took the field in an exhibition performance of their 2024 show, “Joker,” thrilling the audience with a display of precision and musicality.

Class winners for the competition were:

Class 1A: New Hampstead High School

Class 2A: Liberty County High School

Class 3A: Evans High School

Class 4A: Colleton County High School (SC)

Class 5A: Lakeside High School (Evans)

 

In the overall standings:

Grand Championship: Lakeside High School (Evans)

1st Runner-Up: Brookwood High School

2nd Runner-Up: Effingham County High School

Band competition
The event was organized by the South Effingham Band Boosters. The 2024 event was the largest MMI since it began in 2011.
