Pitts joins Alpha Battery ranks

The Georgia Army National Guard welcomes Pvt. Zachary A. Pitts, who graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Okla., on Oct. 5.

Pitts, a 2007 graduate of Effingham County High School, is the son of Bruce Pitts and Scott and Ranie Harper, all of Rincon.

During the nine weeks of training, Pitts received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, teamwork development and Army history, core values and traditions.

Pitts has started his eight weeks of advanced individual training where he will be qualified in his military occupation skill.

He plans on attending Georgia Military College and he is assigned to the Georgia Army National Guard’s Alpha Battery, 1/118 Field Artillery Battalion in Springfield.
