RINCON -- Rincon Elementary School's Walton Burns May Day Celebration was made new again Friday.

The annual event was conducted at the new school on Fort Howard Road for the first time. The previous 35 versions occurred at the former Rincon Elementary School on Richland Avenue.

Burns, a former Rincon Elementary School principal, started the May Day Celebration in 1984. It features the crowning of the May Queen and her court, princes and princesses from each home room, and dances by each grade level (pre-K through fifth grade).

Fifth-grader Lyndsey Schandolph was crowned May queen. Kaitlyn Kidwel and Skylar Vining, also fifth graders, were named lady in waiting and maid of honor, respectively.
