Daniel Rodewolt
Daniel Rodewolt

Special to the Herald

Daniel Rodewolt, an Effingham County native, is running for tax commissioner in the 2024 Republican primary election. Daniel is proud to have the endorsement of Linda McDaniel, who has served as Effingham County's Tax Commissioner for the past 16 years. He is grateful for her guidance and support as Election Day approaches.

"Congratulations Mrs. Linda on your upcoming retirement and thank you for a job well done!"

Daniel's years of experience in management and hospitality are what qualify him to lead; but it is his love for his community and strong moral principles that qualify him to lead with integrity.

"I was born and raised in Effingham County, and I am now blessed to be raising my three children here with my wife. We have seen unprecedented growth over the last few years, and I have a burning desire to serve and give back to the community we are proud to be a part of. I will bring precision and professionalism to the Tax Commissioner's office to handle the growth of the place we call home."

Daniel has met with and spoken to our current Tax Commissioner, as well as Tax Commissioners from around the state to obtain new ideas for different exemptions, management styles, cross training, and office policies to bring to Effingham County. He is researching what approaches have worked best for counties with similar growth as Effingham.

Daniel received his Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Southern University in Hospitality and Business Management in 2006. With over 20 years of experience in management, Rodewolt has acquired a wealth of knowledge in recruiting, training, making decisions, and leading. For the past nine years he has been employed with the Georgia Ports Authority, responsible for overseeing and managing the inventory.

Daniel will use his experience and knowledge to bring necessary changes to our tax office and provide the following:

• Accuracy

Will thoroughly review information that is collected and processed so decisions will be made in confidence and a timely manner.

• Efficiency

Enforce a strict check and balance on all funds collected through the tax office to minimize any waste. Allotted revenue to the office will be disbursed accordingly, by law.

• Cooperation

Continue to build relationships with other governmental organizations, county departments, elected officials, and residents to ensure all needs are met.

• Customer service

Always a process of continuous improvement, Daniel values the importance of being respectful, accessible, and responsive to all internal and external customers.

• Ideas

With growth, changes are necessary. A plan to implement enhanced options for more accessibility and convenience would be a viable change for our county.

Daniel is aiming for alternatives such as a remote tag kiosk, to better serve the South end of the county and outlying areas, as well as residents who work during regular business hours. Driven, determined, and devoted to his community, Daniel Rodewolt is ready to take office as your next Tax Commissioner.
