Special to the Herald

The three-quarter replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., is coming to Hinesville the last week of October. The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 789 and the Associate of Vietnam Veterans of America are coordinating the fund raising, volunteers, and tours.

There are many ways for the community to be involved.

Motorcycles and other vehicle will escort the truck carrying The Wall from Savannah Harley Davidson at GA 204 and I-95 on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Escort participants should meet at 11:30 a.m.

Volunteers are needed to assemble The Wall beginning at 8 a.m. Oct. 23.

Once The Wall has been assembled, volunteers are needed for four-hour shifts around the clock through Oct. 27 at 2 p.m.

Volunteers will be needed to disassemble The Wall and pack it up.

Once The Wall is assembled, it and the Mobile Education Center will be open to the public free of charge.

Sponsorships, feeding volunteers, word of mouth, making time to personally visit The Wall and the Mobile Education Center are all helpful ways to be engaged.

Each evening at 7, there will be a special ceremony: Thursday – Official Opening; Friday -- Welcome Home; Saturday – Agent Orange
