Special to the Herald

Girl Scout Troop 30197 loves to have fun, but these girls also have a big heart and want to give back to help others. Their 2023-2024 Scout Year Give Back project was a toy drive to help the Reid Crosby Foundation gather toys to send to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta Radiation at Emory.

The girls went shopping and spread the word of their drive.  On March 2, Sarah and Tessa Crosby attended the girls’ meeting and were presented with over 200 toys Mrs. Crosby explained who would be receiving their donations and how CHOA uses the toys that are given to them and explained how these toys help bring comfort to those going through a scary situation. The girls were touched by Reid’s story, and afterwards several girls said, “I wish we had more toys to give them.”  For that reason, the troop’s Amazon Wish List is going to remain active. If you would like to make a new toy donation you may donate any new toy through their Amazon Wish List, contact a member of GST 30197, or contact Sarah at kickingDipg@gmail.com. The troop’s toy drive Wish List may be found at www.amzn.to/3wX9FAD.

In Girl Scouts, girls in grades K-12 are encouraged to bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world, knowing the next opportunity to stand up, speak up and take the lead is never far away. The possibilities for greatness are truly endless.
