Every community needs a voice, and there’s no better time to amplify Effingham County’s than during Effingham Day at the Capitol, Feb. 9-11, 2025. This day is not just a visit to Atlanta—it’s an opportunity to engage directly with the decision makers who shape Georgia’s future and ensure that Effingham County’s priorities remain at the forefront. I encourage you to join us under the Gold Dome to celebrate our progress, advocate for our needs, and connect with the leaders who represent our community.
Effingham County is fortunate to be represented by some of Georgia’s most influential leaders, and their dedication to our region is unmatched. Speaker of the House Jon Burns, an Effingham native, holds one of the most powerful positions in Georgia’s government. He works tirelessly to champion policies impacting our infrastructure, economic development, and community well-being. Rep. Bill Hitchens, Chair of the House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee, ensures that Georgia’s citizens and communities remain safe and secure. Sen. Billy Hickman, representing District 4, is a steadfast advocate for local businesses, workforce development, and regional prosperity.
Our county also benefits from the leadership of Ann Purcell, Chair of the State Transportation Board, who plays a key role in advancing infrastructure projects vital to our growth. Her expertise and passion for improving Georgia’s transportation systems are critical to our future. Colonel William W. "Billy" Hitchens III, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety and Colonel of the Georgia State Patrol, ensures the safety and security of our roads and communities through his leadership in public safety initiatives. Rep. Ron Stephens, Chair of the House Economic Development and Tourism Committee, also advocates for expanding tourism and economic opportunities across Georgia, with a special focus on regions like Effingham.
Effingham Day at the Capitol offers a unique chance to engage with these leaders and many others, discussing the issues that matter most to our community. From infrastructure improvements to workforce development, these conversations shape the policies impacting our businesses, schools, and families. It’s a chance to observe governance in action by sitting in on a legislative session and to learn directly from experts through policy discussions and transportation updates.
Another valuable aspect of this event is the unmatched networking opportunity. The exclusive reception with legislators provides an informal yet impactful setting to connect with influential figures, share your perspective, and foster relationships that can lead to meaningful progress for Effingham County. Whether you’re a business leader, community advocate, or someone passionate about our region’s future, this event equips you with the tools and connections to make a difference.
Effingham Day is also a celebration of our unity as a community. When we come together as business leaders, residents, and advocates, we amplify our collective voice and show the strength of Effingham County. This day is not just about advocating for our current needs; it’s about shaping the long-term future of our region and ensuring that Effingham remains a thriving, vibrant part of Georgia’s economic and cultural landscape.
To make Effingham Day at the Capitol successful, we rely on the support of local businesses and sponsors. Sponsorship opportunities help us execute this impactful event and provide businesses with valuable exposure. From Premier Partners to Swag Bag Sponsors, there’s a way for everyone to participate and show their commitment to our community. Effingham Day at the Capitol is a day of impact, inspiration, and connection. It’s about more than just showing up—it’s about standing up for the future of Effingham County.
