Effingham County’s softball team wrapped up the regular season with a 16-0, five-inning win at Brunswick High on Thursday.
Shelby Duff pitched a no-hit complete game to earn the win.
The win clinched the Lady Rebels’ sixth consecutive subregion championship, as they finished 7-1 in Region 3-AAAA (South).
Effingham had one of its best regular seasons in fast-pitch history, finshing 19-3.
The Lady Rebels now turn their attention to the region tournament, which begins Oct. 6 at the North Glynn Complex in Brunswick.
The top four teams from the south subregion and the top four teams from the north subregion will compete in a double elimination tournament.
The top four teams advance to the Class AAAA Sectional Tournament in Hampton.
The state qualifiers will be decided on Saturday, while the seeding and region championship will be decided on Oct. 9.
The seeding for the region tournament has not been determined yet.
