Effingham County’s Gabriele Houston ended her high school career with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the Class AAAA girls state track meet Saturday.
Houston finished in a time of 56.141 seconds. Starr’s Mill’s Michelle Stegall won the event with a time of 54.347.
Houston was first in her heat with a time of 56.446 seconds.
South Effingham’s Tiacara Mack took fourth in the Class AAA 300-meter low hurdles with a time of 46.525 seconds. Santerri Baker of Druid Hills won in 44.555 seconds.
Effingham County’s Sierra Goldwire was eighth in the qualifying heats in the 200-meter dash at 25.823 seconds.
The Lady Rebels’ 4x100 relay team of Houston, Goldwire, Jasmine Johnson and Brittany Griffin was sixth in its qualifying heat with a time of 49.447 seconds. Houston was seventh in her preliminary heat in the 100-meter dash at 12.65 seconds.
